Today's quote -- a nod to my love of the game of hockey, which I miss dearly during the summer -- is something that has helped me with my photography.
"A good hockey player plays where the puck is. A great hockey player plays where the puck is going to be."
-- Wayne Gretzky
All you have to do is change the words "hockey player" to "photographer," "plays" to "shoots," and "puck" to "picture."
To wit...
"A good photographer shoots where the picture is. A great photographer shoots where the picture is going to be."
I know...it's a stretch...but think in terms of a nice vista in poor light (mid-day sun, too high or too low contrast, etc.). Many photographers might skip right past the scene without seeing it's potential. If you are familiar with positions of the sun and the time it rises and falls, you'll see that same vista with great light. So, be like Wayne Gretzky -- only with your camera and lenses instead of stick and puck -- and you'll find many more great scoring, er, shooting opportunities!
