During the holidays when I spend my time around so many amateur photographers (read: "loved ones")...I often have to bite my tongue to keep from dispensing "Mr. Know-It-All" camera advice.

But the one tip that I find giving out over and over and over again deals with photographing small groups of 2-3 people or just one individual.

Shoot pictures of 1, 2 or 3 people vertically and shoot 4 or more horizontally.

The horizontal tip is quite obvious...but so often amateur photographers waste a LOT of space by shooting horizontal pictures of 1 or 2 people.

So put that point & shoot on it's end and fill the frame!
